At the March 5 NFES meeting, Charlie August will present CCUS from emitter to storage – where are we and what do we need.
Abstract
Building a new industry from scratch is a complex task, especially when it involves a diverse set of parties, policies, and companies. However, CCUS is crucial for meeting our net zero goals and ensuring safety and security for future generations. Even with years of subsurface CO2 injection experience, the ambitious decarbonisation goals of nations and companies depend on the rapid development of new commercial models and technical solutions across the entire CCUS value chain. Balancing market forces and policies against technical and economic risks, we will discuss what is needed for projects to succeed, the main risks involved, and who is currently leading the way in Europe and beyond.
