Mathias Horstmann (SPWLA Director, Europe) is encouraging geoscientists to participate in the International Student Paper Contest: “Let’s keep the European flags up!”
Participating in the SPWLA International Student Paper Contest is an excellent opportunity to showcase your research on a global stage, gain valuable feedback from experts in the field, and network with professionals and peers. The contest is open to undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. students, offering a platform to highlight innovative work in petrophysics, geosciences, and related disciplines.
Why participate?
- Share your research with a global audience of industry experts and academics.
- Enhance your professional profile and visibility within the geoscience community.
- Compete for recognition and awards at the prestigious SPWLA Annual Symposium, which will be held in Dubai this year.
Travel support for current NFES members and students from Norway who want to become members
Last year, NFES provided grants to help our new member from the University of Bergen attend the contest. We are pleased to announce that you can apply this year to partially cover travel costs if your paper is accepted. Take advantage of this opportunity to represent your university and Norway and compete with others in Dubai!
Deadline
All submissions must be completed by February 1, 2025. Don’t miss this chance to advance your career and contribute to the global geoscience dialogue.

Let’s represent Norway’s geoscience in this year’s contest, too! Good luck to all participants!
